Bring your own bag

How many of you have reusable bags in the trunk or backseat of your car? How many of you actually remember to bring those reusable bags into the store with you? Using reusable bags might not seem like it makes an impact, but trust me, it does! The use of a reusable bag has the potential to eliminate around 1,000 plastic bags! These plastic bags usually end up in a landfill or worse, scattered throughout different habitats, and can harm wildlife. Not to mention, plastic in general, doesn't fully break down - it ends up breaking down into microscopic particles called microplastic. Microplastic will then bioaccumulate (when a substance builds up in an organism), and then larger creatures, including humans, then eat those organisms - so you've definitely eaten plastic in your life because of this.

By using reusable bags and other reusable products instead of disposable ones, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help keep harmful plastics out of landfills and waterways. There are many clever ways to change out everyday products with reusable ones. Did you just buy some new bedsheets that came in a cute little bag? Use the bag for produce! Do you have an old t-shirt you don't wear anymore? Look up a DIY on how to make it into a bag (no sewing skills required)! And don't restrict yourself to just using reusable bags at the grocery store, bring them with you ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE you shop!
